Cross-Cultural Connection, Sovereignty, and Storytelling

As part of my journey as a First Nations Cree woman, student, and storyteller, I had the incredible opportunity to join a 5-week hybrid global learning program between Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) in British Columbia and Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth, Australia. This immersive experience brought together Indigenous students from both countries in a meaningful exchange of knowledge, culture, and leadership.

This experience reminded me that Indigenous knowledge systems are not bound by borders. Whether on Cree, Coast Salish, or Noongar land, we are all caretakers of something sacred. The stories shared, the relationships built, and the teachings received will continue to shape how I walk in this world—as a student, mother, and future leader.
